Early Season, August
First Kiss® — Slightly tart, aromatic, and similar levels of crispness and juiciness as a Honeycrisp. A new apple on the rise that is a descendant of Honeycrisp.

Storage: Up to 5 months in cold storage

ZESTAR!® — A well balanced sweet-tart flavor with a hint of brown sugar and zesty overtones. It is extremely juicy and has a light crispness.

SweeTango® -- A blast of sweetness with hints of fall spices and another apple crossed with Honeycrisp. The balanced acidity gives this apple a complex flavor that is unlike any other apple.

Premier Honeycrisp® — This Honeycrisp “sport” ripens 2-3 weeks before the traditional Honeycrisp so you can get an early taste of Minnesota’s state apple.

Dandee Red® — Pleasantly tart, crisp, with a creamy white flesh. Another McIntosh sport great for baking.

Riverbelle® — Sweet, juicy, and outstanding crispness

Honeycrisp — A well balanced Sweet-tart taste that is exceptionally crisp and juicy. Minnesota’s claim to fame!

Storage: Up to 6 months in cold storage

Jonamac — Balanced sweet and tart with a white and juicy flesh. The taste is more comparable to a Mcintosh than a Jonathon. Good for pies!

Storage: Up to 4 months in cold storage

Honeygold — Extremely sweet with a crisp white flesh. A great substitute for Golden Delicious.

Storage: 2-3 months cold storage

Macoun — A cross between McIntosh and Jersey Black. Balanced sweet and tart with floral undertones and a firm white flesh.

Storage: 2-3 months cold storage

McIntosh — Primarily sweet and tart with hints of apple cider flavor. A classic baking apple

Crimson Crisp — A sweet-tart blend with spicy undertones. It is extremely crisp, firm, and crunchy.

Storage: Up to 4 months in cold storage

Firestorm — Another Honeycrisp sport with improved red color, but maintains the same flavor and texture as a traditional Honeycrisp

Sweet 16 — Extremely sweet, very crisp, and juicy. It has been described as having notes of licorice and cherry lifesavers.

Storage: 5 to 8 weeks in cold storage

Sansa — A cross between Japanese Akane and New Zealand Gala. Moderately sweet with a hint of acidity. The skin is smooth, and the cream-colored flesh is crisp.

Ruby Jon — Same sweet-tart flavor and firm texture as a Jonathon with a Ruby-red color

Storage: 3-4 months cold storage

Estivale — Slightly more acidic than a Golden Delicious with notes of Strawberry and Pear. Its flesh is cream white, and it maintains a noticeable crispness. (Also known as La Crescents)

Pixie Crunch — A balanced sweetness combined with dynamic floral and spicy notes. It has the firmness and crunchiness of a Honeycrisp hence the word “crunch” in its name.

Gala -- Predominantly sweet, crisp, juicy with a dull white flesh. Small size for kids and snackers!

Kudos®-- A cross between Honeycrisp and Zestar. Excellent crisp, juicy texture with a sweet, well-balanced flavor and occasional tropical overtones.

Late Season, October
Triumph®-- Released January 2021, Triumphs are a cross between Honeycrisp and Liberty.  Juicy, sweet and well balanced.

Pazzaz® — Exceptionally sweet and subtly tart with a strong crunch. A descendant of Honeycrisp.

Storage: 4 to 6 weeks in cold storage

Fuji — One of the sweetest apples around! Good for fresh eating and juicing.
Approximate First Picking: October 2nd**
Storage: 3-4 months cold storage

Fireside -- Very sweet, exceptionally crisp, and juicy. One of the first apples introduced by the UofM breeding program!

Storage: 4-5months cold storage

Haralson — A complex tart flavor, extremely firm, and medium skin toughness. One of our most popular pie apples.

Storage: 4 to 5 months in cold storage

Regent -- A well balanced sweet flavor with a consistent firm texture. Good for fresh eating and holds its shape when baked.

Sweet Sonya — Intensely sweet with floral notes and a crisp texture. Crossed with a Gala but slightly sweeter.

Honeygold -- A cross between a Golden Delicious and Haralson.  Sweet, honey-like flavor and crisp texture.
